Sister Parish Delegations

Visit our sister parish!

St. Catherine of Siena normally sends 2 delegations per year to visit our sister parish in El Sitio, El Salvador.

  • A 'young adult' delgation (college age or recent college graduates, ~18-40 yrs) normally visits for 7-12 days in August.
  • In early-mid November we send a 'semi-young' adult delegation (any age welcome).

Delegates are invited to live in villagers' homes and experience first hand the joys and the struggles of living in a village in Central America.  Each delegation normally brings with it medicines and supplies addressing other village needs, and often a doctor, dentist, and/or nurses are included as delegates.  In addition to living for a week or so in the village, delegations usually travel to the Capital of San Salvador and visit sites honoring Bishop Oscar Romero and the slain Jesuit Priests from the University of Central America.  The also may visit the Peace Center Sister Peggy has organized in the Village of Suchitoto as well as the local school and church and the site of the former village of Copapayo.

Delegates cover their own travel expenses and may include some funding for a gift to address a current need of the villagers.

If you are interested in finding out more about possibly accomanying a delegation please St. Catherine of Siena Church office and ask how to contact Pat OHara (adult delegations) or Bryan Hill (young adult delegations)
